Unprecedented Facial Hair

Words such as ‘uncertain’ or ‘unprecedented’ were used ad nauseum during the height of the covid-19 pandemic. The jovial facial expression whilst wearing an avocado shower cap, looks to introduce levity as a vehicle to express the apathy felt by many in a paradigm of political mistrust and social unrest.
 
During the lockdowns in the UK, the importance of positivity in response to the mundanity of the seemingly perpetual isolation was imperative. In this self portrait, I depict an experimental and unprecedented choice I made of sporting a moustache for several weeks as an attempt at gaining an iota of control at the start of the 2020s.
